  Teletext server

We especially developed an elaborate system to insert dynamic textual content into teletext pages, with expandable support for specific clients (like betting companies, airports, railroad stations, etc). System can be extended with additional applications, like SMS chat, SMS voting, etc...

Hardware

Analog Teletext inserter

Teletext Inserter

Inserter is designed for full broadcast quality video path with automatic relay bypass on power fail. Teletext data can be inserted into analog (composite) or digital (SDI, SMPTE 259M) video signal.

Teletext editor

teletext editor

Teletext page editor (based on Windows operating system) enables easy and simple creation of teletext pages. Required knowledge of how teletext systems work is brought down to minimum. Left side of window contains Teletext Explorer, tool to easily locate and manipulate pages.

Main features:

      • Cut and paste between pages.
      • Graphics drawing tools. Easy drawing of teletext graphics (free hand, lines, rectangles and circles can be drawn)
      • Bitmap import and conversion.
      • Alphagraphics for large headlines. Windows fonts can be used for drawing of large size text insluding Webdings and Wingdings.
      • Text import from Clipboard.
      • Compatible with FAB
      • Communication over TCP/IP

    Work space

Work space consists of following segments:

    1. Menu - main menu

    2. Toolbar - with basic command:

    3. Teletext Explorer - preview of service as a tree. At the top of the tree there is service (root node), which can be consisted of eight magazines  the most. The magazines consist pages and pages consist subpages. On service, magazine or page selection, Control Panel automatically opens tab with appropriate parameters.

4. Work panel - commands from top to bottom

  • Open page from service
  • Add (opened) page to service
  • Move item up
  • Move item down
  • Link page in service with page on hard disk
  • Unlink page in service from page on hard disk
  • Show/Hide Control Panel
  • Show/Hide Grid
  • Show/Hide Control Chars

Page manipulation

Teletext editor contains tools to insert text and control codes, change colors, draw graphic (free hand, line, box, ellipse, fill, graphic text, insert bitmap), multiple undo levels, save and load all your pages to local disk or teletext server... User interface is friendly and intuitive, especially to users who have some experience using graphic drawing applications. The editor can also be used to create and change fasttext links.

Editor communicates with server using standard (internet) HTTP protocol. It can update, insert and delete pages from server, depending on the users privileges. At any time, client can download all your pages from server, and if needed, save them to local computer.

Web interface

web interface

Web interface enables you to:

  • Update pages via Internet, using standard Web browser
  • Preview existing pages exactly as they will appear on teletext
  • Create user accounts with different privileges
  • Commercialization or outsourcing of individual pages (the advertiser or user has full control of his pages via Internet).
  • Supervise the entire system
  • Manage and set server, work and environmental parameters

For end users like betting companies, system provides easy addition and update of dynamic data. Once you create the graphical background and define the part of it (rows and columns) that will be used for dynamic data, you can upload a textual file (tab separated) containing the data. If there is more data than can fit on one subpage, system automaticaly creates and displays additional subpages. Later on, you can change some data (like current score) using Web interface, and affected pages will be automaticaly updated.

XML-RPC

The XML RPC interface can be used to automatically insert dynamic data from an existing database. There are methods for both direct and indirect data insertion and retrieval. This interface enables all the users to access their data from any programming language using standard HTTPS (secure HTTP) Internet communication, combined with the simple (but effective) XML-RPC protocol over it. This way, users can treat teletext as another media to publish data to from their databases, easily integrating it into their existing system. More about XML-RPC can be learned and implementation examples for most programming languages can be found at http://www.xmlrpc.com.
